the axe wounds started in august 2005. basically, luke senter and robert partin, members of the abilene pipers, wanted to start an irish/scottish pub band that wasn’t just bagpipes, so we got together with mcfarland, roger and dirindia and formed the band.

the band really didn’t care about a name and humorously talked about using the name, axe wounds. knowing it sounded like a death metal name, we kept it and thus the axe wounds were born.

They strive to entertain and educate West Texans that there are other instruments out there along with other types of music besides country music…where do you think bluegrass and country came from?
